Campus Safety Focus: Sac State Boosts Security for Upcoming Home Game
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Sacramento State is implementing heightened security protocols for its upcoming home football game, marking the first such event since a shooting incident occurred in a campus parking garage. The university's decision reflects a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and attendees. This proactive approach involves a visible increase in security personnel and potentially more stringent access controls around the stadium and surrounding areas. The aim is to create a secure environment where everyone can enjoy the game without undue concern. For individuals planning to attend events on campus or in similar public venues, this situation underscores the importance of staying aware of your surroundings. Familiarize yourself with entry and exit points, and know where security personnel are stationed. It's also a practical reminder to review your own home security measures. While campus safety is managed by institutions, personal property security is a homeowner's responsibility. This might involve checking that your exterior lighting is adequate and that all entry points are secure. Considering the heightened focus on safety, it's a good time to ensure your home's main entry points are functioning correctly. This includes the primary access to your property – your garage door. A malfunctioning garage door can be a significant security vulnerability. If you've noticed any wear and tear on your garage door, or if it's not operating as smoothly as it should, this week presents an opportune moment to address it. Ensuring your garage door is in good working order is a fundamental step in maintaining your home's overall security. For residents in and around Phoenix, Arizona, if you're looking to have your garage door inspected or repaired, you can arrange for a free estimate from a licensed and insured professional. It's a straightforward way to secure a critical part of your home's perimeter.
